Taiylor R. Nunn STEM Scholarship

Supporting Future Leaders in STEM

The Taiylor R. Nunn STEM Scholarship supports students with a strong passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), with a focus on advancing gender and racial diversity in STEM fields. Established in 2022 by Friends of ISM and generously donated by the Nunn Family, the scholarship reflects ISM’s commitment to access, excellence, and opportunity.

Scholarship at a Glance

  • Award Amount: $5,000 one-time scholarship
  • Number of Scholarships: Up to 2 awards given per year
  • Grade Levels: Entering grades 6–12
  • Academic Year: 2026-2027
  • Eligibility: Current and new ISM students
  • Application Round: Single round (Spring)
  • International Students: Eligible to apply

Are You a Good Candidate?

Applicants should:

  • Be entering grades 6–12 in the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Demonstrate a clear passion for STEM
  • Identify with a gender and/or racial group underrepresented in STEM fields
  • Maintain a minimum academic average of 82 

How to Apply

    1. Write a 500-word essay describing your passion for STEM, your current experiences, and how you hope to apply this interest in the future.
    2. Essays exceeding 500 words will not be read; applicants will be notified and given the opportunity to resubmit.
    3. Use Times New Roman, 12-point font.
    4. Applicants must meet the minimum academic average of 82.
    5. Applicants should not use ChatGPT or other AI tools.

    Review & Selection Process

    • Essays will be reviewed blindly; reviewers will not know the identity of applicants.
    • Award winners will be notified by March 30, 2026, and must accept by April 7, 2026.
    • Recipients will need a signed contract to receive the award. 
    • Recipients are not excluded from being able to receive tuition assistance from ISM if they qualify.

    Application Window:

    • Opens: January 28, 2026
    • Closes: March 13, 2026
    • Award notifications by March 30, 2026

    About Taiylor R. Nunn

    Taiylor R. Nunn is an alumna of The International School of Minnesota whose educational journey reflects curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong love of science.

    Born in Albany, New York, Taiylor lived in various parts of the U.S. and Canada before settling for several years in Eden Prairie, Minnesota—where she discovered her passion for STEM. She attended ISM during middle school before moving to Connecticut for high school.

    Taiylor earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from MIT, followed by a Master of Public Health from Boston University, concentrating in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She is currently pursuing her medical degree at the University of Queensland Ochsner School of Medicine.

    Taiylor credits ISM and its teachers for helping spark her deep love of science and building the academic foundation that continues to guide her path. This scholarship honors that journey and extends similar opportunities to future students.
